#Runway: Elie Saab - Spring 2014 Couture

The God of Couture Exist!

Inspired by the nineteenth-century Dutch artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema and his majestic paintings of scenes from the Roman Empire, Elie Saab set out to capture a bit of this serene ambiance with his new couture show. Pastel colours—blush pink, hydrangea blue, and lilac—were lifted from an Alma-Tadema canvas and the collection’s empire waists and softly draped volumes were reminiscent of orthodox attire. Striking, graceful and desirable are things that come to mind when looking at this grandiose collection. Elie Saab is truly a divinity of transcendent creation.
