Tango Fire @ The Joburg Theatre...

Last night a few twitter happy friends and I were invited to the opening night of the Joburg Theatre’s sizzling new show Tango Fire! Following their sell-out seasons in the US and Europe, Argentina's hottest dance export has returned with their brand new show.
The beautiful dancers captivated the audience as they confidently combined rawness with sophistication as they hissed across the stage showing off the seductive, sweltering and fleshly cores of the Argentinian Tango.

The Tango Fire company features Argentina’s new generation of tango dancers, including five recent world tango champions, in a sensational programme choreographed by Argentina’s hottest young choreographer German Cornejo.  The company’s ten dancers are accompanied on stage by four of Argentina’s most brilliant young musicians, Quarteto Fuego led by the sultry violin virtuoso Estefani Corsini. The live music on stage is played on the traditional instruments of the tango - double bass, piano, violin and bandoneón. The band and dancers are accompanied by one of Argentina’s finest young singers, Jesus Hidalgo.Tango Fire takes the audience on an excursion through tango heritage - tracing its roots from the Barrio’s of Buenos Aires city into Cabaret before moving through the decades to showcase Tango’s growing popularity as a contemporary dance form.

An absolutely breath-taking performance that will have you clenching to edge of your seat in anticipation and applauding hysterically at the startling choreography before your eyes. A perfect night out filled with passion and beautiful music.
