MASCULINE INFLUENCE

Menswear-inspired pieces have been spotted on several fall runways and are heading into stores with looks that lend a feminine edge to average male vests, trousers, blazers and accessories. The menswear trend gives an empowering edge to women. Traditional menswear pieces can look striking on a woman; especially waistcoats, high-waisted trousers and the double-breasted blazers.

Here are some tips on wearing the menswear trend, while still looking like a vamp.

Suiting Up:

Make sure that your jacket fits you well, to avoid a boxy boyish silhouette.
Women should have the perfect fit when practicing this trend. You want to keep it sexy and make sure that the clothing you are wearing accentuates your body and doesn't conceal it.
It’s about creating a flirty feminine look with well tailored lines.

Add Feminine Touches:
To give a softer touch to menswear, mix it with sheer fabrics and lace and colour.
An artistic way to mix in your own individual style is through your accessories and accent garments.
Stick to preferred accent of the menswear trend therefore accentuating the trend and still keeping your femininity intact.
Below the belt, the man's closet is a tad disappointing. You've got trousers, and well that's about it. And that's why fashion has used menswear as a spring board to much greater heights. Yes, love your cuffed, wide-leg, crease-front trouser, but also adore a trim pencil or high-waisted skirts in sheer volumes of chiffon add a well tailored blazer and fedora and mission accomplished.

My love affair with menswear hasn't left you out in the cold - bundle up for the chilly season in classic coats, feathered fedoras, scarves and cropped leather gloves. The trench coat has that signature masculine fabric while voluptuous curves are drawn with empire waistlines and ribbon-tie belts.

My Personal Touch:
  • Add vintage cuff links to your favourite blazers this adds a regal appeal and sets it apart from the customary ladies blazers found almost everywhere at present.
